Hackers remotely kill Jeep's engine on highway

In case you thought dealing with a backseat car owner was bad, try coping with one that isn't even in your vehicle.

One driver had to do exactly that after hackers managed to distantly commandeer the controls associated with his Jeep Cherokee, triggering windshield wipers and blasting the radio-even going as much as turning off the car's motor in the middle of a highway, based on a report from Wired.

"The most disturbing maneuver came once they cut the Jeep's wheels, leaving me frantically moving the pedal as the 2-ton SUV slid uncontrollably right into a ditch, " the " cable " report read.

In a fairly controlled experiment, hackers Steve Miller and Chris Valasek used a reporter because "a digital crash-test dummy" to call attention to weaknesses in Internet-connected entertainment as well as navigation systems featured in many brand new vehicles, the report stated.
