Whenever Theresa Denison and the girl family stopped to fill at Evans Corner fuel station on 21st Road near Wichita State College they ended up putting a number of gallons of diesel energy and water into the container of their truck. Once the girl realized what happened, Theresa immediately notified gas train station employees.
"I said, 'you have to shut off these penis pumps. Our vehicle just passed away we have to get towed, ' They said, 'no everything is actually fine'. And that was the finish of it, " said Denison.
Theresa ended up calling KAKE News On Your Side and a staff put her in touch with Weight load and Measures with the Kansas Department of Agriculture. Circumstances inspector went to Evans Part the following day and close the down the diesel powered pump.
There was 4-inches associated with water in the diesel fish tank at the gas station, based on the inspection report filed through Weights and Measures.
While confronted about the issue with the actual fuel tank, gas place employees admitted there was drinking water inside, but didn't understand why. State officials along with Weights and Measures not necessarily sure how the water joined the tank either.
Irrespective, the problem with the diesel aquarium will have to be fixed before the condition allows the pump to become turned back on.
The actual inspection at Evans Spot serves as an example of what almost all consumers should be looking out for in gas stations, says Weights as well as Measures officials.
- What is yellow Weights and Steps Sticker on gas pumping systems. The date should be absolutely no older than 18 months. That's when the state inspects each pump motor.
- Before you start pumping gasoline, make sure the meter reaches zero so you don't pay money for gas you haven't driven.
- Look for any damp spots around the pump, that could indicate a leak.
