Volvo detailed its preliminary programs to fix the emissions associated with both its 1 . 6- and 2 . 0-liter diesel powered models in Europe, within a press release issued Wednesday early morning. The plan includes both mechanised and software updates to create the engines into conformity with EU28 emissions regulations.
The smaller, 1 . 6-liter diesel-powered models will be fitted with the "flow transformer" in the consumption just ahead of the air mass sensor that will improve the sensor's "measuring accuracy. " In addition , a system update will also be added to the vehicle.
The 2-liter diesels, however, will not need any physical retrofitting and only need to get a software update in order to make all of them emissions compliant. VW estimations this will only take about half an hour per car to apply.
Volkswagen says that the goal is that these modifications will not affect either motor performance or fuel effectiveness. However , the press release highlights that "the achievement of those targets cannot yet become finally confirmed. "
