Volvo India Private Limited (VIPL) on Friday said it is going to launch diesel hybrid busses in India early the following month. Navi Mumbai Municipal Transportation (NMMT) will be the first client, the company said.
“We are in the process of completing homologation of diesel hybrid tour bus and awaiting certification through Automotive Research Association associated with India (ARAI). We be prepared to get the certificate very soon and provide the first batch of five chartering to NMMT within the next 2 weeks, ” VRV Sriprasad, Company Head for Volvo Buses Indian & south Asia informed the FE.
He stated the company has secured purchases from NMMT for 5 hybrid buses, which are produced at the company’s manufacturing plant in Hoskote near Bengaluru. The organization imports chassis and goes together in Bengaluru, he mentioned. Volvo Buses is also within talks with other state operate transport corporations in Karnataka, West Bengal and Tamil Nadu for hybrid vehicles.
